ASOS announced their annual results yesterday and once again I recommend that you read the presentation that they have released on their website – they share some interesting details about their KPIs.
Top line results showed good continued growth for the year to 31 March 2010:
- Group revenues up 35% to £223m
- International sales up 95% to £63m
- Current trading up 58% Group, UK 36%, International 118%
- Operating profit up 46% to £20,331,000; net profit up 45% to £14,580,000
- 31% of their annual sales came in Q3
- New warehouse with initial capacity of £600m annual sales
In terms of other KPIs, some interesting facts emerge – I’ll leave you to read the slide below, but the highlights for me were:
- AOV was up 11% to £62.74 (and £80.08 for overseas orders)
- Unique visitors were up 43% to 8m
- 43% of visits came from overseas
- 1.6m customers have shopped with them in the last 12 months, up 20% on last year
I was also really pleased to see Nick Robertson talking about their delivery service proposition in his presentation. They’re planning to launch collect/return to store within the next year – be interesting to see how they achieve that:
He also talked a lot about international growth. I was really interested by this, as we’re working on a project for Royal Mail at the moment looking at how well UK retailers are dealing with orders from 16 different countries around the world. ASOS is one of the 75 retailers that we’ve put to the test, so it’ll be interesting to see how they fare. This report will be published in July – if you’d like to be notified when it’s available, get in touch.

And from the FT: suggestions of who ASOS will team up with for collect in store (Waitrose, Boots, Mothercare all mentioned) http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/0811d9e8-7393-11df-bc73-00144feabdc0.html
